Rab’s attractions can be categorized into two main categories: historical landmarks and natural wonders.
Historical.
Rab has an old town that has a long history that dates back to 360 BC when it was inhabited by the Illyrian tribe. The island was the frontier between the regions of Liburnia and Dalmatia. Although the Old Town of Rab is small there is a lot of unpacking.
Visit all 4 towers – the 4 towers are the icon of Rab and definitely a must see if youre into history.
Tower of Saint Christofer – The Tower gives an amazing view of the whole old town od Rab. Its small so you might wait to get up if there are lot of people.
Cathedral of the Assumption of Blessed Virgin Mary – Prior to the dissolution of the bishop of Rab in 1828, this parish church served as a cathedral. Its early Christian origins from the fourth and fifth centuries are shown by recent finds of architectural decorative pieces and a nearby baptistery. The three-naval basilica retains the early Christian characteristics, including the polygonal outside rim of the apse and a few capitals in the colonnade.
Goli Otok – small uninhabited island with a haunting history. It served as a political prison during the period of communist Yugoslavia, where political dissidents and prisoners were subjected to harsh conditions and forced labor.

Zlatni Zalaz – Zlatni Zalaz is the 2nd best view you can see on Rab. Just when entering/exting Lopar you will see this panoramic view over the Adriatic Sea and Rabs small island.
Park Zidine – Zidine fortress is a small camp in Lopar where you can see all kinds of wacky buildings connected with nature.

Public Transportation on Island Rab
The public transportation on Rab Island is bad. There are only a few buses available each day, primarily servicing the route to the old town of Rab. Therefore, if you wish to fully explore the island, we highly recommend considering alternative options such as renting a scooter or a buggy car, which are suitable for traversing different terrains. While car rental is possible, it is not advisable due to the limited availability of parking spaces in Rab, making it potentially inconvenient for visitors.
To come to Rab there are 2 ferries. One from Valbiska. Krk which takes 90 minutes and other Stinica, coastal Croatia which takes around 15 minutes.
Rab History
Rab’s history dates back over 2,000 years. The island was first settled by Illyrians, an ancient Indo-European people. In 9 B.C., Rab came under Roman rule and became an important administrative and trade center. During the Roman era, Rab flourished and gained prominence for its well-preserved Roman architecture, including the four bell towers that still grace the town’s skyline.
